Payments & Fees

Learn about SPONSA's 5% fee, PayPal charges, and when you get paid.

Payments & Fees

Everything you need to know about how money flows on SPONSA, what fees apply, and when you get paid.

How Much Does SPONSA Take?

SPONSA takes a 5% platform fee on each tip. That means you keep 95% of every tip you receive, minus payment processing fees.

Example: If someone tips you Β£10, here's the breakdown:

  • SPONSA fee (5%): Β£0.50
  • PayPal processing fee: ~Β£0.30 + 2.9%
  • You receive: approximately Β£9.20

Payment Processing Fees

PayPal charges their own fees separately to SPONSA's platform fee. These vary slightly by region but are typically around 2.9% + a fixed fee per transaction.

SPONSA doesn't control PayPal's fees - they go directly to PayPal for processing the payment.

When Do I Get Paid?

Tips are sent to your connected PayPal account automatically. The timing depends on PayPal's processing:

  • Most tips arrive in your PayPal balance instantly
  • PayPal may hold funds for new accounts until you build transaction history. To mitigate this, ensure that you’ve provided any details that PayPal has asked for

Minimum Payout

There is no minimum payout threshold on SPONSA. Every tip is sent to your PayPal as it comes in.

Supported Currencies

Supporters can tip in their local currency. PayPal handles the currency conversion automatically if your account is set to a different currency.

Viewing Your Earnings

You can see all your tips and earnings in your SPONSA dashboard:

  1. Log in to sponsa.app
  1. Go to your Dashboard β†’ Insights

Tax Information

As with most traditional tipping platforms, SPONSA does not withhold taxes from your earnings. You are responsible for reporting your income according to your local tax laws. We recommend keeping records of your earnings and consulting a tax professional if needed.
