How Tipping Works

Want to support your favourite creator on SPONSA? Here's everything you need to know about sending tips.

Finding a Creator's SPONSA Page

Creators share their SPONSA links in their stream descriptions, social media bios, and content. The link will look like: sponsa.app/creatorname

Sending a Tip

  1. Visit the creator's SPONSA page
  1. Choose which goal you want to support (creators can have multiple goals for different types of content)
  1. Enter the amount you'd like to tip
  1. Add a message if you want (the creator will see this!)
  1. Click the either the PayPal or the Debit or Credit Card buttons and complete payment through PayPal

Payment Methods

SPONSA currently accepts payments through PayPal. You can pay using:

  • Your PayPal balance
  • A debit or credit card linked to PayPal
  • A bank account linked to PayPal

I Don't Have a PayPal Account - Can I Still Tip?

Yes! You don't need a PayPal account to send tips on SPONSA.

PayPal gives you the option to check out as a guest using your debit or credit card. Just click Debit or Credit Card button instead of logging into PayPal.

The payment is still processed securely through PayPal - you just don't need to create an account.

Do I Get a Receipt?

Yes! PayPal will send you an email confirmation of your payment. You can also view the transaction in your PayPal account history.

Can I Tip Anonymously?

You can send tips anonymously by checking the Send as Anonymous checkbox, so your username won’t appear in the creator’s SPONSA dashboard. However, since we don’t control what information PayPal shares, creators can still see the name associated with your PayPal account on their PayPal dashboard and transactions.

If you'd prefer to tip anonymously, you can mention this in your tip message and most creators will respect that when reading tips on stream.

What Personal Information Can Creators See?

When you send a tip, creators can see information on their SPONSA and PayPal dashboards:

  • The name on your PayPal account (PayPal Dashboard)
  • Your PayPal email address (PayPal Dashboard)
  • Your tip amount (Both)
  • Your tip message (SPONSA Dashboard)
  • The goal you contributed to (SPONSA Dashboard)

Creators cannot see:

  • Your card details
  • Your home address
  • Your transaction history with other creators

Your privacy is protected - creators only see what's necessary to thank you for your support.

Where Does My Money Go?

Your tip goes directly to the creator via PayPal. SPONSA takes a small platform fee (5%) to keep the service running, and PayPal takes their standard processing fee.

The vast majority of your tip (approximately 92%) goes to the creator.

Can I Get a Refund?

Tips are generally non-refundable as they go directly to the creator. If you have an issue with a specific transaction:

  1. First, try reaching out to the creator directly
  1. For platform issues, email us at support@sponsa.app

Why Tip Through SPONSA?

Unlike other platforms that limit creators to one funding goal, SPONSA lets creators run multiple goals at once. This means you can specifically support the content you're most excited about - whether that's a new mic, a special stream event, or a creative project you want to see happen.
