Getting Started with SPONSA

Welcome to SPONSA! This guide will walk you through setting up your creator account so you can start earning tips from your community.

What is SPONSA?

SPONSA is a multi-goal tipping platform built for content creators. Unlike traditional platforms that limit you to one funding goal at a time, SPONSA lets you run multiple goals simultaneously - so your fans can all support the content they're passionate about!

Step 1: Create Your Account

When you receive your invite code from an existing creator or the SPONSA team:

  1. Visit sponsa.app and click Sign Up
  1. Click Continue with Google and select a Google Account you’d like to sign up with
  1. Select I’m a Creator and enter your invite code
  1. Continue the onboarding steps and click Create Account to finish!

Step 2: Connect PayPal

SPONSA uses PayPal to send tips directly to you. Here's how to connect your account:

  1. Go to Settings → Payment
  1. Click on the toggle next to PayPal, or click Connect
  1. Log in to your PayPal account and continue the onboarding steps
  1. Once connected, you'll be redirected back to your SPONSA Settings page, and the toggle will turn on

Important: You’ll need a Business PayPal account to receive payments on SPONSA. If you don’t have a Business PayPal account, PayPal’s onboarding steps will guide you through setting one up.

Step 3: Customise Your Page

Your SPONSA page is where supporters will come to tip you. Make it yours:

  1. Go to Settings → Profile
  1. Upload a profile picture and banner image
  1. Add a bio that tells supporters what you create
  1. Set your display name and customise your page URL (if you haven’t already done so)
  1. Add tags to your page so viewers can easily find you
  1. Enter your social media links

Step 4: Create Your First Goal

This is where SPONSA shines! Create goals for different types of content:

  1. Click the + button on your page to create a new goal
  1. Give your goal a name (e.g., "New Mic Fund" or "React to Your Requests")
  1. Set a target amount (and a starting amount if you have funds that have come in from elsewhere)
  1. Add a description explaining what supporters are helping you achieve
  1. Upload an image for the goal
  1. Click Publish

Pro tip: Start with 2-3 goals that appeal to different segments of your audience. You can always add more later.

Step 5: Share Your Page

Now it's time to let your community know:

  • Your SPONSA page URL is: sponsa.app/yourusername
  • Share it in your stream descriptions, social media bios, and content
  • Consider pinning a message in your Discord with your SPONSA link
